Geolocation Service Maximizes Merchants’ Marketing Power PDF Print E-mail

Hamilton, Bermuda. June 7, 2007. First Atlantic Commerce Ltd (FAC), a leading Internet multi-currency, payment and risk solutions provider, today announced the take-off of its geo marketing, Internet Protocol (IP) Geolocation services for merchants across the globe.

IP Geolocation, the process of evaluating an eCommerce transaction based on the geography of the consumer, allows merchants to view the customer's browser location, including the country, state or province, city, and zip or postal code, as well as their Internet Service Provider (ISP) and domain name.

FAC’s service, cGate®Locate, provides an excellent precision marketing tool for merchants to better understand their customers and target market. The information can be used to take immediate action and drive online marketing campaigns tailored to certain demographics or cultures, according to CEO of FAC, Andrea Wilson.

“IP Geolocation has typically been used as a fraud detection tool in this industry to block consumer traffic from restricted countries, and we fully support that as an additional layer of risk management. However, we believe Geolocation provides even more value for marketing and tracking of consumer behaviour,” she said.

Once merchants implement the service, they are able to tailor their online content to specific geographic customer segments or cultures, which in turn, gives them new insight into their customers’ behaviour and surfing habits.  Merchants can put automatic messaging, blocking or marketing processes in place based on that information, and they can target certain consumer verticals and manage sales campaigns more effectively.

“For example, if an online merchant wants to target a new consumer market such as China or South America with distinct promotional information or new services, our IP Geolocation services will enable them to track their campaign and consumer behaviour for that market,” said Wilson.

A unique real time reporting and mapping function is also available for statistical and marketing analysis.

cGate®Locate is now available for all online merchants including those who have existing payment gateway services with other providers.

“Our IP Geolocation service can be implemented alongside our payment gateway solutions or as a stand-alone solution for merchants wanting to benefit from IP consumer Geolocation, but not wanting to move away from their existing payment provider,” said Tricia Lines Hill, FAC’s VP of Marketing and Corporate Communications.

Merchants looking to obtain actionable marketing information and optimize customer acquisition can employ FAC’s IP Geolocation solution in just two business days.

cGateLocate® is the latest service to be added to FAC’s suite of consumer authentication solutions, which also include Address Verification (AVS) and Card ID Verification (CVC/CVV2) services, and Verified by VISA and MasterCard SecureCode™ solutions.

For more information on FAC’s geo marketing services in addition to multi-currency payer authentication solutions for Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode™, merchants should contact FAC today or visit the company’s website – www.firstatlanticcommerce.com.
