Course Description: Introduction to Operations PDF Print E-mail

DESCRIPTION:
This course focuses on the back office operations associated with payment processing. and provides an in-depth look at Interchange from categories, qualification, settlement and balancing. The process of adjustments, including chargebacks and retrieval procedures and regulations is a secondary focus. The final area of focus includes general and best practices for customer service and support, including tools and technology available. This course complements the Introduction to Electronic Processing course with an emphasis on operations.

 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the course, participants should be able to:

 

  • Define the various operational terminologies.
  • Understand the functions of merchant settlement, risk management, data security, exceptions/chargebacks, interchange, reporting, customer support and outsourcing.
  • Understand the resources available for each of the above functions.
  • Understand how to determine the potential benefits of bringing the various operational functions in-house or through third party providers.
  

AUDIENCE:

This course is appropriate for individuals considering entering the electronic paymentsindustry or payments professionals who gained their experience and information on-the-job and want to expand their knowledge-base and advance their careers through moreformalized education about the payments industry. Introduction to Electronic Processing is the recommended prerequisite for all other ETAU courses.
